Booties everywhere

It's still the day of the week in which we honor shoes, although we're encroaching on my bed time so I'll keep it quick. Bootie love is in the air! We all know how much I adore my beloved tan Bakers, but I desparately need to expand my bootie horizon. Yes, I'm desperate.

Wearing: Baggy shorts

The tantrum my boyfriend threw over these shorts was that of a five year old; kicking and screaming and begging that I don't wear them in public. Begging. After an hour of nonsense, we headed out the door with a very pouty walk to dinner with friends at Burger Bar. Jort jokes aside, this place is a MUST for burgers in Chicago.

Basically, these shorts almost cost me my relationship but they didn't and life went on. Burgers made it better.

I urge you to join me in the movement against flattering jeans (a temporary movement, jeans should otherwise be flattering) and don another way spice up the summer wardrobe: baggy jorts. The ones I'm wearing are the genius work of Levi's (who else) and the boots are by Bakers (but you knew that already because I wear them every other day).

Top: H&M (old, similar here)
Shorts: Levi's (thrifted, buy these a size too big for a baggier look)
Booties: Bakers
Clutch: Zara (similar)

Wearing: Printed dress

Quickie post (naughty) on this dress I scored at Crossroads. The sweet print drew me in, the tassels won me over. I'm such a sucker.

Then I put on every bangle I own (gold, silver, I don't discriminate) and had myself a nice little Sunday.

Dress: Forever 21 via thrift (love this print)
Booties: Bakers

Wearing: Happy shorts

Here I am with the happiest shorts I ever did see. While shopping with my mom this weekend, I encountered love at first sight: saw them, loved them, tried them on over my jorts while waiting in line to buy them.

The floral pattern mixed with the athletic cut is a wonderful dichotomy. I wore them out to dinner at Cafe Babareeba for festive tapas, only made more festive by these shorts.

Black top: Thrifted
Shorts: Forever 21
Sandals: Colin Stuart with Victoria's Secret (love these)
Clutch: Zara (similar)

Wearing: Princess pants

Palazzo equals palace equals princess equals these pants.

Just when we thought skinny jeans were it, the fashion world graces us with a very wide-legged presence. Kind of like gaucho pants (more like ouch-o pants, ew) but fancier, meet the palazzo pant. Palazzo pant, meet your new Wearists. Haven't worn these yet but thought I'd gain the people's vote and see if anyone has a brilliant suggestion of how to wear them. I figure a simple tank and dainty heels would work, but perhaps in the fall I can don my leather jacket and booties.

Palazzo pants: Thrifted (try these, these and these)
Tank: H&M Basic
Sandals: Zara (not available anymore)
Necklace: Urban Outfitters (love this one)

Wearing: Peplum skirt

Flashing back to when it was somewhat doable to wear long sleeves, here is an outfit that I've - gasp - forgotten to post. I went ahead and put a peplum on my skirt (well I didn't but somebody did), so a skirt on my skirt, and wore this rad cut-out sweatshirt that looks like a blouse so I will call it a blouse. Can't wait to wear it all through fall. The diamond necklace is real, just kidding. It's actually missing a rhinestone (can you tell?).

Sweatshirt: No label (similar here, on sale!)
Peplum skirt: Target (similar style here)
Booties: Bakers
Diamond necklace: Forever 21 (love this one)
Gold necklace: Forever 21 (old)

For your fetish, here's a hodgepodge of fall flats for this hot-ass Shoesday. Lots of pointy toes, metallic, a leopard, a dark brown oxford (craving that right now), a crazy lace-up. A tassel, duh. The coveted Jenni Kayne mule. Even a gym shoe.

Also, a shout out to my girl Joan who loves this Shoes video more than life itself.

Wearing: Potential

I had some intimate time with my closet recently and tried on almost everything I own in every combination. Sometimes my insatiable shopping hunger is filled by just digging around in my own clothes. And because the point of this blog is not only to write about what I've worn, but also about what I might wear, this outfit was born.

It had major potential for last Saturday night but I ended up wearing the top but with a skirt instead due to the incessant rain. Sigh.

Then these Dolce Vita sandals came into my life, which I scored at my local Crossroads for 25 bucks, and I haven't been the same since. Last season's sandals for some, this season's sandal for me.

Fall forecast: Light denim

I'm seeing lots of light denim in the future, particularly the future that is Fall 2012. Classic dyed blue jeans are back for a second wind and in for a major comeback.  I'm loving them with easy layers, long coats, booties, super stilettos (ho), distressed, cropped, slouchy, tight. All of it is lookin' mighty fine.

I don't think dark denim is going anywhere, but a lighter shade is worth picking up for the upcoming season.  Asos, Levi's, Forever 21, Acne and Zara offer some cute pairs.

I give you the D'Orsay flat by genius designer Jenni Kayne. I'm always looking for an interesting flat and these mules are just the answer. I'm pining for them and their unusual shape.

If you're rich, please feel free to click here for purchasing and then also feel free to buy me a pair. Size 8. In the mean time, I'll search for a cheaper alternative and keep you guys posted.

Wearing: What's black, white and red all over?

I spent the weekend at a friend's glorious lake house (visit my Instagram, @thewearist) and got quite red on my chest. No, I'm not showing my chest on the Internet. So then, yesterday, I decided to re-wear an outfit I failed to capture last week for the purposes of this blog (and you fine people) so hence the bad joke.

Anyhooters. Here's me, red-chested me, in a wonderful lace pencil skirt with my crown muscle tee. I wore this with a plain white tee last week but I think I like this version better.

The skirt is very Stella McCartney with the mirror image pattern.

T-shirt: Topshop (old, try this one)
Skirt: Thrifted (love this, this and this)
Shoes: Colin Stuart with Victoria's Secret
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
