Wearing: Tulip skirt

I really like how this tulip skirt lays, the Angelina leg the wind brings isn't bad either. I got it secondhand a while ago but it's a few sizes too big so I hesitate to wear it. Buttttt it's got a cool shape and pattern so that's that. The booties are my recent splurge (splurge meaning bought them new and not on sale) but I love how basic and versatile they are. The heel is high but chunky so I can wear them all day with no problem. Low pony to top it off, haven't rocked it in a while but am learning to appreciate the sleek and simple 'do.

Top: Forever21
Skirt: French Connection (cute version here, dying for this skirt)
Belt: H&M
Booties: Lucky Brand
Sunglasses: No name (similar)

Wearing: Sweater dress

Catch 22: a backless dress made of sweater. Assumed to be warm but absolutely not warm. This photo shoot was nippy (I'll spare you from the outtakes) so this sweet dress really only works when the temperature has a slight chill but not freezing.

Dress: Urban Outfitters (old, cute burgundy option here)
Bangles: H&M
Clutch: Vintage (similar)
Shoes: Dolce Vita (love these nude wedges for fall)
Lipstick: Dark Side by MAC

NYFW Street Style

As a follow up to some of my favorite runway looks, I wanted to share with you street style that made my heart skip a beat. Eyes pop out. Mouth drool. People brought their freakin' a-game to the streets in New York: funky sweaters, cool textures, insane patterns. Patterns that make so little sense together that, ironically, when together they make the most sense ever. Watching these ladies go balls out is so inspiring. Let the Fall games begin.

Wearing: Cloud blouse

I feel so dreamy and airy when I wear this blouse and thanks to the Zara clearance rack I look it too. It's got sort of a funny fit so I have to be careful as to what I wear on the bottom (nothing too tight) but I'm in love with the romantic texture and sky blue color. The jorts you've seen before, nothin' new there. Still big, still bangin'.

Top: Zara (clearance)
Jorts: Levi's (thrifted)
Sunglasses: Free People (similar in tortoise)

Art on your feet

Is it just me or is the shoe department getting a little more embellished? Neutrals are sliding out of sight (don't worry, they'll stay in our peripheral) and artsy fartsy, structural, avant garde shoes are becoming more street style.

Happy Shoesday, wearists!

Wearing: Leather skirt

Saturday night I went to a cool restaurant previewing for Carriage House in Wicker Park. The menu is inspired by the chef's childhood in South Carolina - elevated comfort food with hints of Cajun and Creole flavors. We indulged on things like cornbread and foie gras butter, juicy pork shoulder, fried chicken, and crab soup. Dessert was an incredible gingerbread cobbler and their already talked about Old Fashioned. Plus, the decor is stunning. Carriage House is set to open soon (1700 W. Division) and I highly recommend checking it out.

Anyway, on to the clothes. If you can't tell, I'm crushing hard on dark red (see lipstick, manicure and clutch). I actually revolved this outfit around my lipstick choice, Mac's Viva Glam 1. Just a simple black fitted tee and a great leather skirt that has the perfect amount of flounce.

NYFW FOMO

Hi there, it's me. Me, the one who has neglected this blog a bit the past couple weeks.

Back from NOLA (note: three acronyms thus far) and all was wonderful, photos to come. I had major FOMO knowing that Fashion Week was happening right behind my back so I'll vent and tell you about some of my favorite looks.

Chadwick Bell is a new favorite of mine. Clean lines, minimalistic silhouettes, simple colors. The most amazing jumpsuit.

And then there's 3.1 Phillip Lim, who's always a badass with all those layers while maintaining a light and airy vibe.

Swoon for Jenni Kayne and her sweet color blocking, cool patterns, and those damn flats I still dream about.

Proenza Schouler, HI.

Elizabeth and James was too cool for school. The baggy yet tailored clothes are perfection.

I got my lacey hit from Jill Stuart, who mastered girly frocks with a masculine edge.

Long story longer: lots of black and white, fearless fabrics, and pretty people wearing pretty things. Yes, amazing things happening on the runway but also so many amazing things happening on the streets. Street style post forthcoming.
