Wearing: What's black, white and red all over?

I spent the weekend at a friend's glorious lake house (visit my Instagram, @thewearist) and got quite red on my chest. No, I'm not showing my chest on the Internet. So then, yesterday, I decided to re-wear an outfit I failed to capture last week for the purposes of this blog (and you fine people) so hence the bad joke. 

Anyhooters. Here's me, red-chested me, in a wonderful lace pencil skirt with my crown muscle tee. I wore this with a plain white tee last week but I think I like this version better. 


The skirt is very Stella McCartney with the mirror image pattern.

I wore this last weekend to brunch and shopping with friends (we'll discuss the amazing Dolce Vita wedges I scored for 25 bucks later). This top is becoming one of my repeat offenders, the sheer stomach is feminine and flattering. Worn backwards, too. Oops?

Shrine to Taylor (not me)

I seriously get a lady boner over Taylor Tomasi. As one of my ultimate style icons, she embodies everything I love about fashion: the classic lines, the simple yet somewhat deranged behavior, the ability to wear whatever you want simply because you love it. And simply because you feel like a freaking rock star wearing it. An expert in layering, a pro at color combinations and the world's most effortless dresser, Tomasi is a true fashion mascot. Her hair is a perfect shade of fiery red and, frankly, it makes me want to dunk my head into a bowl of hair dye for three days. When I need some inspiration of what to whip up next, I turn to the holy and daring Tay Tay.

Wearing: Mix and (not) match

Oh, your eyes are hurting? That's called summer folks, where it's totally legal to mix crazy patterns that might not make sense otherwise.  Weirdly enough, this combination of micro stripes and a red tribal skirt came to me in a dream. I know, I'm crazier than the patterns, but I'm all in the spirit of making dreams come true.

I'm donning the t-shirt backwards (something I often do), the high neck and low back is a little sweeter and a bit more flattering.

Wearing: Dance attire

Another Monday, yes. Another tutu, yes again.

As I search for the hidden Danskin tag, I'm convinced this dress had a long career on stage prior to my picking it up. With the lace-up sandals it's a little too Nutcracker so I solve my pirouette problem with an army green utility vest that stiffly hangs over it all.

This was my Saturday night get up. I went to a boozy dinner with some of my best girls at Tango Sur (their sister restaurant, Folklore, is equally divine) and then out dancing.
