The second I saw my idol wear this t-shirt, I knew I had to have it. I'm not a t-shirt person but for some reason I loved the idea of wearing lil' ol' Kanye under blazers, chunky sweaters, alone with jorts and sleeves rolled up. I'm also really into these Jenni Kayne fake-outs. Forever21 is sold out of the black, but I have a feeling they'll bring them back. They're just too good of replica when 500 dollar flats isn't quite feasible.

Coats are so 2012

After perusing the street style from recent fashion weeks in New York and London, I'm noticing that no one is wearing their coat. Arms are not going in sleeves and it's making me wonder. Yes, I can now clearly see your bracelets and your clutch and your fabulous fashion week invitation. But two things. One, how is the law of physics not pulling the coat off your shoulders and two, aren't you cold?

Wearing: Faux fur

In celebration (not really) of it being 20 degrees outside, I thought I'd share my favorite piece from my faux fur repertoire. I usually wear it at night, to glam up my outerwear, but I daytimed it with a casual beanie, flat boots, and a slouchy sweater. By the way, don't underestimate your local Salvation Army. I found this charcoal gray cashmere - cashmere - turtle neck for two dollars. Two.

I think we're so desperate for some fun in our winter wardrobes that we've deemed camoflauge a neutral. February is almost over (home stretch people) so anything that livens up a stupid sweater and jeans ensemble I'll take. This sweater is easy, comfortable, basic but still with character. If you can, notice the detachable collar on my coat (which I always note because I feel it deserves credit for both form and function). The jeans are BDG, a great in-house brand from Urban Outfitters. They're tight but stretchy but sturdy. If jeans can be sturdy?

I leave you with my longing for summer: when my outfits are a bit more adventurous, when my skin is a bit more brown, and my expressions in photos are a bit more...happy.

An homage to black and white

Sorry, just remembered I had this blog.

JUST KIDDING. Work has been busy lately and because that pays the bills and not this, I've had to put The Wearist on the back burner. Hashtag sad face.

Enough with my excuses, onto the latest trend: black and white. I was in Zara this past weekend (scored some pointed penny loafers for 10 bucks) and noticed the overwhelming presence of black and white and an underwhelming presence of anything colored. The runways, the streets, everyone is donning the simple color palette and needless to say, I'm thrilled.
