Wearing: White hotness

Weekends like last weekend only call for two things: light clothing and air conditioning. I only had the former (sigh, rentals without central air), so I enjoyed the 90+ degree weekend in this pretty white dress.

I love me a good hand-me-down. This one, a Marc Jacobs gem, is from my dear aunt. Borderline bridal, the itty bitty spaghetti straps add romance; the flowy skirt keeps it casual. The sandals are my ancient Cole Haan gladiators, which are so comfortable I can't even stand it. Well, I can stand it. All day actually. Without any pain or blisters.  Damn shoes are genius.

LOL Starz

This trend is kind of funny to me. Science class meets Lisa Frank. Cheesy graphics meets high-end fabric. Somehow, it all works. And somehow, it's making miss those wildly colorful trapper-keepers with white tigers and rainbows and so many STARZ.

Let's ride out Wednesday with these trippy pieces, all of which I love.

Shoesday

I didn't forget. There are two more hours of Shoesday where I am.

Sink your teeth into these puppies. I'm hoping those are puka shells. Deluxe puka shells. Or something in the puka family.

Wearing: Pink pillows and red

I'll get to the shoulder pillows in a minute.

I just want to say that few things are sweeter than re-discovering an item in your closet after years of negligence. For example, this skirt. A very full, layered and flouncy red skirt that has been completely ignored. What a shame. It has incredible movement (ass-bearing movement, not to wear on windy days), and the color is so vibrant.

You've seen the top before, but the pink looks mighty fine with red. Still ridiculous, the shoulders are a conversation starter that's for sure.

Wearing: Strings attached

In my minimalistic binge, I decided to wear navy silk(ish) pants to work yesterday with basic whites on top. Pajamas masquerading as normal clothes is very familiar to me, why not live life comfortably.

Plus, I'm digging the drawstring look.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, people! Enjoy friends, family, and everything barbecued.

Wearing: Black mullet

Not sure what I love more, the versatility of this dress or the price tag. For a slim price, this piece will certainly be a summer staple. It hangs brilliantly, the neckline is classic and the mullet hem adds a hint of trend to an otherwise LBD basic. There's also has a fantastic subtle crinkle to it. See ya later, iron.

Chunky monkeys

Tuesday = Shoesday. Shall I start a tradition?

Enjoy these monkeys, these chunky heeled monkeys that are all the rage right now. No, I'm not a hypocrite. I love skinny heels and fatty heels. Flat heels, wedged heels. I don't discriminate. I especially don't discriminate against those yellow and clear Missonis (mi love em).

Wearing: Minimalistic-ness

Not a word. I know.

I'm into simple shapes and colors recently so presto! This outfit. The skirt never fails me. Well, sometimes the sheerness fails me in that even the faintest of colored underwear shines through. Whoops. I can't complain though, it's all good in my skirt book; the swing of it, the color of it, the length of it.

And then there are the perfectly platformed cork sandals. So comfortable and the suede ankle lace ups make it all a bit more special.

Clutch: Forever 21 (lusting this Zara one)

PS - The visible hanger string is so frustrating (sorry). Way to go, me.

Suits that jump

I'm a romper's #1 fan, talk about an easy outfit. But let's take it one step further, shall we, and discuss the romper's mama bear: the jumpsuit.

I can't get enough of the glamorous unitard. It has a certain chic and playful attitude that not many other pieces have. Very versatile too; wear it with flats, heels, on a date, running errands, on the toilet and then you realize you're naked because you have to take the whole thing off.

Okay I'm done. Let's just say I'm on the hunt, my first prey might be this one from Zara.

Wait! It's not over yet! While perusing the Internet for the perfect jumpsuit inspiration, I stumbled upon these masterpieces from Stella McCartney's latest resort 2012 collection. Wackiness ensues, including some jumpsuits. Photos via The Fader.

Wearing: Greenery

Mint, in case you haven't seen enough this season, and hunter green is a pleasantly surprising color combination. Who woulda thunk the greens could compliment each other. Truly a green team. Like green peas in a green pod.

American Apparel tee (worn backwards, woah) and my favorite cargo pants, all inspired by this get up.

The sandals are tribal. Really tribal.

Wanting: Anything Tibi

Tibi has been on their game, not that they were off their game or that I'm some trend-forecaster expert, but I've been noticing a couple pieces that are absolutely lustworthy. Swoonworthy. Break the bank worthy.

Peplum jacket, bold skirt, mint mini, that.last.dress. The maxi dress blows my maxi-mind; you can buy the skirt version here if you're feeling rich. It's the 15th of the month though, so maybe you are indeed feeling rich.

Wearing: Dip dyed denim

Kind of an illusion, no?

From afar, they look like shorts against really white (maybe dead?) legs. But up close they are a rad take on denim, which I am no stranger to (see here and here). Dip dyed from the hips to the bum, they are surprisingly wearable with anything. Here I kept it simple with black, but I'm imagining soft patterns, pastels, stripes, chunky sandals and so on.
