Wearing: Leather...

...ish. Yup, breaking out the pleather pants at the office. Inappropriate for the corporate world? You be the judge. But really don't be, please. Speaking of judges, gotta love the true test of trying on a pair of pants and they still fit AFTER A YEAR. Forever Yogurt moving in a block away hasn't been too big of a problem (although I might celebrate with a 10 dollar yogurt).

Anyway, back to the outfit and my love for these pants. They're the perfect faux leather that doesn't make the cheap swish sound when you walk. They're also somewhat comfortable, which is always a plus. And I sort of look like a floating head in this turtle neck but it's whatever.

Shoesday

I've been wanting these Isabel Marant booties for a while but as per god damn usual they are way out of my budget. The closest I've found is this pair from Urban Outfitters. They've got the same dusty desert color, higher ankle, perfect toe and easy all-day heel.

Wearing: Fall dress

Fall dresses are not easy to come by. You need long sleeves, easy patterns, not too much chunk. This one is great (and very Isabel Marant-y, no?) and cheap. I definitely recommend picking it up from H&M (there are also a lot of cute options at Forever 21) as it can easily translate from fall to spring, from casual to dressy. I wore this to a friend's bridal shower at Little Goat with a leather jacket over it and felt mighty fine. And yes I chopped my hair off.

Wearing: H&M Sweater

I love this sweater. I saw it in the window of H&M and with a giant sign next to it that read $9.95, I knew I had to have it (no such thing as too many sweaters when it's the dead of winter in October). I didn't even try it on. Had I done that, I would have realized the itch-factor. I think the problem can be solved by a tight tee or a tank underneath but nonetheless it's a gorgeous chunky, cream sweater that's great for fall. I mean winter.

Wearing: Maroon coat

Let me tell you about this coat and its major plastic surgery, which was nearly too much for my dinky drug store sewing kit. Nevertheless, I went to work to RESTORE THE LINING. I know. Almost not worth getting the damn thing but a cute maroon coat for 13 dollars (thank you Crossroads for the endless good deals) wasn't something I could pass up. So while this simple Sunday outfit seems effortless, it's not.

Wearing: Polka pants

I'm realize the lighting may be hindering your view but yes, these are polka dotted jeans and yes, that is me wearing them. These pants are definitely the most funky thing I own so I'm sad the pictures didn't turn out well for proof (check my Instagram pic for a better shot).

The subtle color combination of oxblood and black helps soften the blow of your typical printed pant. Subtlety is key if you're dipping your toes in the printed pool. And if subtle isn't an option, simplicity always is. No need to get crazy.

Hey, shortay

Finally, a trend that covers up the totally unnecessary late night burger from the night before. And because that behavior is unlikely to stop completely, why not embrace this cute lil' trend: the short-strapped purse (a midi purse?). It sort of functions like a fanny pack but is exponentially chicer. I have a couple in my repertoire: this black one from H&M (very easy and every day) and this vintage one I got at a Goodwill in Michigan.

Wearing: Benton Harbor baby

When we pulled up to our hotel in Benton Harbor for a close friend's wedding, which was stunning by the way, I was pleasantly surprised (okay, beaming with joy and practically foaming at the mouth) that it was next to a Goodwill. The best Goodwills are in offbeat places so this was my chance. My chance for greatness. And because I wake up ungodly early (so awesome), I knew that the day after the wedding my boyfriend would be snoozing 'til noon and I could do some damage. And by damage I mean twelve dollars.

I found a couple sweaters, a couple jewelry dishes and this fabulous yellow purse, which fits right in with the trend I'm loving now (post coming tomorrow).

Wearing: Sunday funday

A simple outfit for last Sunday with friends: baggy jeans, striped top, shrunken blazer. Shrunken purse too, which has become my new favorite (I know, always somethin') with its short strap and I-hold-everything-even-though-I'm-tiny personality.

White jorts

White on white and yes after Labor Day. Are we done with that whole rule?

These shorts originally had much more to 'em. I used to playfully roll them for a chic painter look but eventually got sick of the largeness so I found the scissors, threw them in the wash, and voila! The perfectly distressed white jean short with a disheveled hem just like I like 'em.
