Wearing: Yellow shorts

Had to do a bit of tailoring on these (like replacing the button and tidying up the loose ends on the hem) but I couldn't resist these sweet silk shorts. I wish so badly I could wear them to work but the only shorts I allow in the office are my corporate shorts. In any case, they're a dressy day-time option and perfect for dinner on my imaginary upcoming vacation.

More than a Number

Quick Friday night post...

Some of you know I'm an account executive at Leo Burnett and work on Special K - a hugely inspirational and insightful brand that has a fresh point of view on women today. I wanted to share my latest work project, which shifts the focus from sizes to feelings. We need to remember we're more than a number. I'm size optimistic!

Wearing: White on white

The day, today, I look like a painter and don't mind.

And yes, just as Labor Day approaches and summer is coming to an end (did it ever really start?) I find my dream white boyfriend jeans that are the perfect amount of torn. I struggle a lot with white jeans only because I fear I'll be too preppy, too nautical, too country club. The rips and looser fit make anything a little edgier.

The bag is a must-buy, girls. It holds everything and is a great burgundy/brown-ish alternative to the basic black work bag I wear every day. Plus it's 30 dollars, which is just the cherry on top of my very cheap sundae.

Wearing: Inverse stripes

This outfit is basically the inverse of this exact ensemble but what can I say - I love my shorts and I love my stripes. I own many a striped tees but what I love about this one is the fact that it's black with white stripes, instead of the opposite. I know, mind-blowing. Also, I found a tumblr that's completely inspired by stripes. You're welcome?

Wearing: A jumpsuit

Finally a jumpsuit. After posting about my onezie crush more than a year ago, I finally found one and have yet to spare it from any special occasion. From a baby shower to my boyfriend's birthday dinner, this thing a one-piece wonder.

Shoesday

So I have a little bit of a t-strap infatuation and by that I mean I recently acquired two new pairs (black and bone), totaling my collection to three. Yes, probably excessive but I just love the look and I know they'll always be classic.

And, I'm back.

Summer has sort of slipped away and aside from typical excuses for my absence (photographer was out of town, lack of time, lack of patience), well - I'm gonna say it - I didn't really feel like blogging. Life was happening and I was living it; not pausing for an outfit post in front of my beloved brick wall.

So after my six-week hiatus, I learned something. This blog needs to work for me. Not the other way around. And interestingly enough, in these six weeks my style has evolved a bit. I cherish simplicity. Basics are my best friends and uncomplicated clothes are fun to me. Less trendy, more classic. Okay, sometimes a little trendy.

I now own a Joie tee and thanks to my friend Anj, I pronounce the brand correctly. It's Jo-wah, soft j. I practically live in these jorts and these Sam Edelmans. Oh, and outerwear. Because apparently Chicago forgot how to do summer.
